The RUS, in collaboration with the Italian Alpine Club – CAI, organizes the second edition of the Climbing for Climate initiative. Spread throughout the national territory, it intends to promote the themes of the 2030 Agenda through knowledge of the territories and active mobility.

The RUS delegates who adhere to the initiative are invited to organize an excursion open to the representatives on the themes of sustainable development of their university, in collaboration with the local CAI sections and possibly with other universities and local actors. The excursions will take place along the paths of the CAI with preference for the “Sentiero Italia CAI”.

The initiative aims to raise awareness of local and national public opinion on the themes of the 2030 Agenda through knowledge of the territories in the light of the UN objectives, including those for the promotion of sustainable tourism (SDG 8), social and economic activities of those living in peripheral areas (SDG 10), of support for sustainable communities (SDG 11), of the fight against climate change (SDG 13) and of the promotion of life on earth (SDG 15). During the day, the participating organizations will sign an appeal for the protection and enhancement of the local natural and cultural heritage.

The appointment of 19 September, as well as by the CAI, is sponsored by the Ministry of the Environment and the Protection of the Territory and the Sea – MATTM, by the Italian Glaciological Committee – CGI, by Sustainable Development Solutions Network – SDSN and is included in the calendar of Sustainable development festival promoted by the Italian Alliance for Sustainable Development – ASviS.
