In Florence, a tree for every Covid victim. A forest dedicated to those who passed away due to Covid

di Carla Andrea Fundarotto

The idea came from the mayor of Florence, Dario Nardella, who thought of creating a wood to remember all those who died for Covid-19. “We will plant a tree for everyone who has left us” said the Mayor.

The location has not yet been specified, but it could be a green area near Trespiano, near Florence. To make the challenge possible, the initiative “Donate a tree” was launched to allow every citizen to donate a plant. A dedication chosen by the same citizens for each victim of Covid will then be posted on each tree. There are currently just under 600 trees already donated.
