Organic farm with olive trees, vines, vegetables and herbs, which carries out social farming activities with young people and adults with family and mental problems.
Mariscò is located near Grisì, a fraction of the municipality of Monreale, about 40 km from Palermo, on a hill 400 meters above sea level. With almost 30 Ha of land, it overlooks Lake Poma and has a large courtyard of about 300 square meters with a panoramic terrace from which you can enjoy a beautiful view of the lake and the sea. We have been observing the organic farming regime since 1998 and on the farm we offer hospitality to all people who choose to spend a day in our company.
What distinguishes Mariscò from other farms is being part, since 2010, of the Network of Sicilian Social Farms. Analyzing the problems of the local area Laura and her family decided to focus on the multifunctionality of the farm, deciding to invest in social agriculture. Since then, groups of individuals with various psycho-physical, family and social problems have been welcomed into the company. This has allowed Mariscò to train on the farm in the agricultural field, interface with interdisciplinary fields including psychology, medicine and social economy, create job opportunities and allow for better reintegration into society of people with social and family problems. Thanks to social agriculture projects, the company has won several national and international awards.
