Ricehouse tackles problems of two main sectors: the construction one and the agricultural one.

Just in the EU, buildings are responsible for 40% of energy consumption during construction, 36% of CO2 emissions, generate 1/3 of all waste, use 21% of drinking water and 50% of extracted raw materials. Ricehouse transforms the rice residues into 100% natural construction materials that at the end of their service life return to the nature in a circular way.

Currently the company proposes the following solutions:

Construction products whose direct target is mainly represented by architectural firms, construction companies, real estate developers, academic institutions, transformers of raw materials and private client’s.

These products are divided:

  • Insulation materials: rice straw and rice husk
  • “Humid” bio-compound products: thermo-plasters, lightened screeds, finishes and paints in husk, lime and clay
  • “Dry” bio-compound products: closing panels for internal and external use in rice husk, rice straw, clay and natural binder; rice husk bricks
  • Wood structural panels with rice straw or rice husk insulation
  • Rice by-products and clay based material for the 3D printing (patent pending)

RISORSA buildings: architectural design of buildings constructed under the methodology of Ricehouse and created with rice-based products.

In an innovative way the company coordinates and controls a short supply chain, creating new economics from the field to the construction site.
