The American singer-songwriter and model Lana Del Rey donated $ 350,000 for the construction of water and solar systems in the territories inhabited by the Navajo, one of the most vulnerable communities in the United States that still, in 2020, lives in precarious conditions, without light and drinking water.

The donation comes from the advance on sales of the poetry book “Violet bent backwards over the grass”, written by Del Rey herself and released last September.

The sum was used for joining the project to the “Dig deep water” project of Navajo water project, a non-profit organization for years committed to protecting the rights of the Native American population living in the territories of northern Arizona, Utah and New Mexico.

“Each of us can make his own contribution, as an individual, for the help of the other,” explained the singer-songwriter on her Instagram profile, commenting on a video that shows the areas where there is no access to drinking water.

The Navajo water project was born, in fact, in 2014 with the aim of raising funds for the installation of water and solar systems in Navajo communities. One in three Navajo today would not have potable water in their home. A third of families, in fact, every day is forced to carry drinking water for kilometers and kilometers to their home, paying up to sixty-seven times more than the cost of the water conveyed.
